Wanderlust. Sharing of things resonante
Encountering Research Projects of the Angewandte SoundCape’s contribution to the Wanderlust exhibition in the framework of the Angewandte Festival showcases the first phase of the research work conducted by Sophie Luger and Lenia Mascha at the Institute of Architecture in the time period between February and June 2022. The work is presented in three distinct… Continue reading Wanderlust. Sharing of things resonante
Noise Samples
We have been exploring specific urban scenarios and their particular soundscape. By recording various phonic samples within Vienna, we studied building mass, including their envelopes and their potential to combat environmental noise.
Three-dimensional Vibration Modes
Investigation of three-dimensional Chladni figures through specific mathematical formulations based on the Research Paper named “Chladni Figures Revisited – A Peek Into the Third Dimension” by Martin Skrodszki, Ulrich Reitebuch, and Konrad Polthier conducted at the AG Mathematical Geometry Processing, Freie Universität Berlin describing the particular characteristic patterns and propagation within a medium.
Cymatics
Using physical and computational methods, visualizing different vibration modes through the field of cymatics based on the explorations of Ernst Friedrich Chladni (1756-1827).
Reflections
This study investigates the acoustic properties of abstracted urban scenarios through computational simulations. Specifically, it analyzes the potential for building facades to disperse and attenuate urban noise.
